I work on 19th and 20th century European philosophy, especially in the traditions of existential philosophy and phenomenology.
In my research, I address questions about the nature of love and its relation to ethics and interdependence. I propose that understanding what love is requires giving careful attention to how we apprehend or presume value in other persons, and to structures of interdependence that obtain between people and how people respond to those structures in their emotions.
